Inspiration Oaxaca Exhibition

  • 131 Hubbell Street San Francisco, CA, 94107 United States (map)

“Oaxaca is home to an abundance of traditional arts: weaving, wood-carving (alebrijes), ceramics, embroidery, sign-painting. The artisans live and work in the valleys surrounding the city. The course was created to allow student designers the opportunity to see their ideas translated into different media, as well as engage and work directly with a number of indigenous artisans.

This exhibition explores the breadth of translations that occurred between student and artisans, within the different techniques and media that were available during the course. In addition, handmade books represent the individual students’ perceptions, and the photographs serve as a journalistic document of the experience of living and working in this vibrant environment.”
